Reading encourages children’s imaginations to grow, and opens their world view to include new people, places, circumstances and opportunities. Reading books about difficult topics, such as limb differences or limb loss difference, is a safe and impactful way to introduce children to the concept. Books like these will help children with limb difference or limb loss build greater self-esteem as they can relate to characters that “look like me or are different like me.” They will be encouraged to talk openly about their limb difference and answer questions from friends.
As you may know, our passion is to help improve literacy outcomes by promoting reading for pleasure, creative writing and diversity awareness.
