To say its been a very special week is an understatement...The Disney Ultimate Princess Time to Shine Campaign launched, and we presented the pep talks! This is a Disney and The Female Lead campaign all about encouraging young girls starting school and building their confidence for when they do! We are so excited to be a part of this campaign and be inducted as the very FIRST EVER Young Female Leads. we're still in shock of how amazing all of this is! For this campaign which aims to uplift young girls starting school, Aiyven and I wrote 3 mantras based on 3 princesses: Tiana, Elsa and Moana.

Disney Princess Time to Shine

Its hard to put into words what being inducted as the First Ever Young Female Leads and authoring the stories behind the Pep Talks mean to us but even more humbling is the campaign’s cause. Drawn from our own experiences of starting school, we hope these stories and their mantras will be an added confidence boost to young children starting school. Since 30th August when it launched, the campaign has been featured in over 100 press outlets like The Sun, The Independent, MSN, Yahoo News

Kirsten and Aiyven Mbawa First Ever Young Female Leads

It’s never been more important to lift the confidence of children than in these post-pandemic times when parents and schools are reporting that children's personal, social and emotional development, language, literacy, and numeracy skills had been significantly affected. The need is especially great for children starting school for the first time. New research conducted with about 1000 parents of 3-6year old children shows that 72% of children are worried about starting school with 51% of parents sharing the worry too🙁.

With mantras like “I am ready for any adventure” (story by Aiyven), “My Potential is Limitless” & “I will try my best” (both stories by Kirsten), the series of Princess Pep Talks aimed at children 3-6years old will help alleviate the confidence issues and get the 2022 - 2023 school year off to a flying start💥

The story behind the mantra “I am ready for any adventure” (authored by Aiyven in collaboration with the Disney crew) & narrated also by Aiyven. Apprehensive to go on her first adventure at school - a trip to the farm, Arielle, 5 (the young Disney princess star)  feels alone in her worries as all of her other classmates seem excited for the trip. But on the morning of the trip, she says to herself in the mirror “I am ready for any adventure”, just like her favourite princesses, Moana and Ariel, who both explored the unknown with great results. A lovely pep talk with the morale that Arielle is capable of anything if she puts herself in the right mindset.

“My Potential is limitless” is the Pep Talk who story was (authored by Kirsten in collaboration with the Disney crew and narrated by also Kirsten. Macie, 5 loves gymnastics but is reluctant to join the club at school because all the other girls are so good. Thinking back to Elsa, Macie finds the confidence to join the gymnastics club and even finally got her cartwheel. She learns that just like Elsa, her powers are limitless.

The Pep Talk featuring the mantra “I will try my best” (authored/narrated by Kirsten in collaboration with the Disney crew) tells the story of Ivy-Rae,5 the featured Disney Princess tackling her first tricky bit of homework - making a paper swan, but she just couldn’t get the wing right. This made her very upset and she almost gave up until she thought back to Rapunzel and Tiana. Rapunzel tried her very best to go and see the floating lights which led her to her parents, although mother Gothel tried to stop her. Tiana also tried her best as she would not give up on her dreams of opening her own restaurant, even when she became a frog!  Thinking about these princesses helped the girl complete her craft! It wasn’t easy, but when she realised she just needed to try her best she managed to fix the wing, finishing her beautiful paper swan.
